The latest VNL update features our most aerodynamic and fuel-efficient package. In fact, with our XCEED package, the VNL offers up to a 16%* improvement in fuel efficiency compared to the baseline package.
Up above, the roof air deflector complements the cab fairings, keeping the airflow attached and smoothing out costly turbulence between the cab and trailer. Down below, we've added to our aerodynamic offerings with the new FlowBelow Tractor AeroKit™. The package includes a system of wheel covers and fairings designed for improved aerodynamics and fuel efficiency.

Out in front, the VNL features a hood, bumper and low airflow deflector, which work together to quickly manage airflow and efficiently channel it rearward.
Down where the rubber meets the road, redesigned chassis fairings optimize airflow past the drive wheels and tractor-trailer gap.
To improve visibility and reduce maintenance, Volvo employs LED bulbs for all exterior lighting. All models feature LED high/low beam headlights, as well as LED turn, marker, and parking lamps.
The premium headlamp also features a “signature” LED daytime running light.
The VNL offers redesigned working and living spaces, optimized to put the driver comfortably in command, maximizing productivity. The seating has been ergonomically optimized, while the dashboard and steering wheel bring controls and information efficiently to the driver with minimal distraction. An integrated telescopic ladder is now standard in the VNL 760. Large steps make it easier to get in and out of the top bunk. And the ladder quickly locks in place behind the cabinet when not in use.
Volvo is proud to offer the first integrated, reclining bunk in a sleeper. Fully adjustable, it’s like putting your favorite easy chair in the cab. In the VNL 760, the reclining bunk can still efficiently store away to use the optional table top workstation configuration.
The sleeper control panel can be used to lock the doors, adjust bunk heating and cooling, set audio levels and close all shades simultaneously. An adjacent desk top swivels off the back wall for meals or laptop use on the bunk.
Throughout the interior, premium craftsmanship and innovative details like softer LED lighting, electrical outlets for the top bunk, easily reachable controls, smart storage arrays, larger refrigerator, removable floor mats—every detail was chosen to create a warm, clean, calming environment.
To create a sense of a refined, performance-oriented product, our designers drew from F1 auto racing, where choices blend form and function. Every time the team improved something, they thought about how to improve it more.
Position Perfect Steering.
No two drivers are exactly the same, so we set out to design an optional steering solution that would be exactly the right height and angle, no matter who’s behind the wheel. With a three-way neck tilt, driver’s have an almost endless array of choices for positioning the wheel exactly where they prefer it.
At the heart of the new and improved instrument cluster is a five-inch driver display, with improved graphics, works with steering wheel mounted controls to provide key operating parameters, as well access to trip information, performance data, and wide-range of vehicle diagnostics.
The new infotainment system is optional in every VNL. It features a seven-inch color touch screen and an integrated premium audio system. Drivers can also choose to install navigation tools and a wide selection of third-party applications.

Combine I-Shift with an intelligent cruise control and you get I-See. It's a unique system that learns the topography of the road. Later on, it automatically uses its knowledge to save fuel when the intelligent cruise control is engaged.
The Volvo D11 is a fuel-efficient, lightweight engine designed to improve reliability and minimize cost of operation. The D11 delivers performance competitive with larger engines, beginning at 325 hp and up to an impressive 425 hp at 1,550 lb-ft. torque.
The Volvo D13’s efficiency & power improve operating costs, while meeting 2017 GHG emissions standards. Twelve power ratings are available, from 405 to 500 hp. XE, Eco-Torque, and Dual-Torque ratings provide “dual-personality” torque output for customers who desire the fuel economy of lower torque with the strong performance of higher torque.
Ideal for applications operating at 65 mph, the D13TC engine for the new Volvo VNL uses turbo compounding to capture and harness energy typically lost through the exhaust. This gives you greater fuel efficiency and increased power.
Cummins is a valued partner in developing engines that deliver everything from better fuel economy to improved reliability and durability. The X15 Performance Series (505-605 hp, 1850-2050 lb-ft.) upholds Cummins’ long tradition of innovation and dependability. It features Cummins' powerful engine brake with up to 600 bhp and the improved VGT turbocharger with an actuator that’s more than four times stronger than previous versions.

The Volvo I-Shift for Severe Duty includes upgraded hardware and software, improved engaging sleeves for greater durability, and a countershaft brake for improved performance and smoother shifting. The electronic control unit can handle any load and any road, shifting perfectly every time. Clutch durability and torsional dampening are also upgraded. So the Volvo I-Shift not only keeps fuel costs down, it slows driveline wear, reduces noise, extends transmission life, and lowers maintenance cost.
When steep-grade startability and low-speed maneuverability are critical, the I-Shift with Crawler Gears is the answer for maximum Gross Combined Weight (GCW) loads. The crawler option adds either one or two gears to the I-Shift, a low gear and ultra-low gear, for low-speed control.
The I-Shift with Crawler Gears’ weight capacity is among the industry’s highest for automated manual transmissions. It enables controlled forward and reverse travel at extremely slow speeds, perfect for paving and curbing applications. Upgraded software optimizes shifting for high GCW applications, allowing shifting to occur at higher revs, and enabling drivers to control downshifts.
